It’s Back to Work We Go

I’ve successfully survived our first Thanksgiving.  Our furniture arrived on Tuesday and our guests on Wednesday!  On Wednesday evening, we got all of our china, silver, and crystal out (we had been storing it in boxes for 5 years while we searched for the dining room furniture).

On Thursday morning, we got up and started our cooking.  We made just about everything that had been on our original menu … Turkey, Rolls (my mom brought those), Squash, Asparagus, Mashed Potatoes, Gravy, Cranberries and a friend brought fruit.  It is funny, while it seemed like a lot of food it really didn’t seem too overwhelming on our table!

Oh, and I almost forgot, my husband did make the turkey veggie platter.  I think he did a really good job, what do you think?

And, of course, we had pie for dessert… apple and pumpkin.  It was a nice day – lots of cooking, family and fun.  On Friday, we went with my mom and grandmother into New York to see the Rockettes which was a lot of fun!  We had tickets for the early show (10 am) so we hopped on a train, went to the show and were back at home by 1 pm … just in time for a lunch of Thanksgiving leftovers.   We’ve been working our way through the leftovers since Thursday and I think we still have a few more days to go!  Clearly the pies were the first to be completely finished but we still have lots of Turkey left.

It is back to work for us tomorrow and I as much as I’ve enjoyed my time off, I am looking forward to getting back to my routine!  How are you doing on your Thanksgiving leftovers?  Do you have any good recipe ideas to share?  After a few days off, do you look forward to returning to work?
