It’s Day One of the New Plan

It is day one of the new program.  On tap for today’s workout was 30 minutes of strength training and 70 minutes of cardio work (including a 10 minute warm up / cool down).

The workout felt really good this morning.  It was definitely tougher than my normal workout and I can already feel that I am going to be sore from both the cardio and the strength training.  One of the cool things about the New Leaf program is that I can upload my heart rate information from my Garmin watch to the New Leaf program and it will show me how I did.  I definitely had some trouble getting my heart rate up and then back down in the correct intervals as you can see from the chart below but I am proud of my results given that this was the first workout!

Today’s eats:

Today is my first day of trying to eat more consistently.  I packed: Fiber One cereal, Gnu Bar, String Cheese, Carrots, and Peanut Butter. While this may not seem like a lot to you it is quite a bit more than I normally eat during the day so I consider it a really good step and I am very interested to see what happens with my energy levels as a result.  So far I am feeling good… I am not feeling over stuffed and I am not feeling hungry so it is a success so far.  I also don’t think I’ve yawned yet today.
