59 Degrees in January?

I got outside for a quick walk today at lunch…. And, I simply could not believe how warm it was outside.  It made me wonder if today was really JANUARY 31st??? I work in the Union Square area of New York and there were people all over Union Square outside enjoying the sun.  There was even a piano player with a dog on top of his piano!  What a beautiful day…

A few people emailed me and asked me what my workouts were supposed to look like over the past two days.  I posted the results but didn’t clearly post the actual workouts.  So, I thought that I’d take a moment and post the past two days here.  Below you’ll see the actual workouts that I was given and then my results.  Moving forward, I’ll make sure that I post both.  Please remember, though, that these workouts were customized for me based upon my current fitness level – so if you are interested in the general themes – please make sure you customize for yourself — this  is definitely not a one size fits all!

Monday: 70 minutes (5 minutes warm up; 60 minutes workout; 5 minutes cool down) cardio; 30 minutes weights.

Monday’s workout was intervals as you can see by the chart below.

My results were a bit inconsistent.  As you can see from the chart below, I generally hit the intervals but not necessarily at the right time!

Tuesday: 100 minutes (5 minutes warm up; 90 minutes workout; 5 minutes cool down)

Tuesday’s workout was all about consistency and working out at a much higher heart rate than I normally do.  I had been working out, prior to the New Leaf Assessment, at a much much lower heart rate but for a very long period of time.

As you can see by my results, I generally did pretty well with maintaining my heart rate within 160 – 171 but I definitely am not exactly where I want to be with consistency.  I think that this workout gets repeated next week so I’ll have a chance to try it again.

I’ve almost finished my snacks for today and I am feeling really good.  Yesterday at this time I was definitely feeling a bit stuffed but today I feel “normal” and I have energy.  I’ve definitely noticed a difference over the past few days.
