I am not sure why but I was exhausted last night. I actually was in bed and ready for sleep by 9:00 pm. I got home after work and just sat on the couch. I didn’t move, I didn’t talk, and I didn’t even reach for my computer. I just sat there staring at the TV before I got up to get dinner started last night.
Dinner last night was a salmon burger, broccoli and a pile-o-noodles.
Yum. I realized after I ate that I was pretty darn full from everything that I had eaten all day but that I still hadn’t eaten enough for the day. So, I grabbed a few pieces of bread with butter to make up the difference as I want to make sure that I am set up for success here.
This morning’s workout was 100 minutes on the Arc Trainer at a heart rate of 160 – 171 beats per minute. I am now starting to wonder what in the world I got myself into with this New Leaf program. That was intense… I definitely didn’t stay at the in the range 100% of the time but I did the best that I could and ended up just barely making it!
According to my Garmin heart rate monitor, I averaged 161 beats per minute (so, I did hit the goal). And, this includes my 5 minutes of warm up and 5 minutes of cool down. So, I’ll take it! You’ll see quite a few spots on the chart below where I was definitely under 160 during the middle of my workout but over time I’m sure that I’ll be able to get that average up a bit higher. The huge dip in the middle? That was me pausing the Garmin, running upstairs to get aspirin and then changing my Netflix show for the remaining half of the workout.
I can already feel that my arms and legs are sore from yesterday’s workout. I can only imagine what today’s workout is going to do on top of it. I am trying to stretch every time that I get up so that it is easier and less painful for me later on.
My snacks for today are the same as yesterday. I had intended upon switching it up but decided that for the first few days it might make sense to keep everything the same as I get used to eating during the day. I’ve also started a list for Costco this weekend so that I have more snacks on hand to pick from (I definitely need to get some nuts, additional veggies, and pop chips).
Today is another day in the office. I’ve already got one snack in and I’m feeling pretty good (I also got an extra 5 minute nap on the train:)). I am hoping that I’ll be able to get outside around noon for a walk given that it is supposed to be in the mid-fifties today. It really doesn’t seem like winter but I’ll take it!
