Weekend in Review

Why are weekends always so short?  It seems like half the time, I can’t even recall what I did over the weekend!

After getting home from work, on Friday, I was so tired that I really didn’t feel like cooking.  I ended up munching on a bunch of things and eating more than I anticipated.  A lack of plan = almost certain failure for me!  I ended up falling asleep on the couch while watching tv.  Don’t even ask me what was on, I can’t recall.

We slept in on Saturday before getting up and going to Brushes & Bisque to paint ceramics.  I’d never been to a ceramic studio before and was definitely quite skeptical but it ended up being a lot of fun. A & I were there for almost three hours painting a snowman.  We have to go back next week to pick up the finished piece after it is glazed and fired but here is a preview of our new decoration.  The colors look very light here but when this is glazed and fire the pinkish will turn into a deep bright red.

After finishing up our painting we were ready to run a few errands at Costco and the grocery store.  What a trip to Costco – there were so many great items with instant rebates that we ended up getting way more than I intended but we definitely stocked up on some essentials: Whole Wheat wraps, Whole Wheat Tortilla Shells, Chicken Burgers, Vitamins, Oranges, Carrots, Broccoli, Tilapia, Turkey Burgers, Cheese, Lettuce, Almonds and Frozen Veggies.

Sunday was another very relaxing day.  We took a quick trip to the grocery store to take advantage of a catalina deal – buy three boxes of General Mills cereal and get a free 1 gallon of milk on your next trip.  And… to make it an even sweeter deal, I had $0.75 coupons that doubled so the cereal was less than $1.00 per box before the free milk.  Of course with such a great deal, we just had to take advantage.

After getting home and putting everything away it was time for a bit of cleaning, laundry and relaxing until the Super Bowl.  I did all three of those things quite successfully while getting caught up on Desperate Housewives.  Somehow, I had managed to miss every episode so far this year!  And, now we are quietly watching the Super Bowl.  I’ve already got a couple of favorite commercials so far.  I loved Volkswagon’s Dog Strikes Back, M&M’s and Matthew’s Day Off.  Which commercials were your favorites?
