A New Little Routine

I’ve developed a new little routine for myself.  I get home, get changed into my pjs, wander downstairs get my snacks ready for the next day and then do the dishes from the prior night before getting dinner started.  I know… I know… I should do the dishes the same night but once I hit that couch I just can’t get myself to get up and do anything productive!

I had a snack again last night as I was getting everything ready (Babybel Cheese and bread) while preparing today’s snack and before getting dinner ready.

Last night’s dinner was our favorite standby, chicken burgers and veggies.  I don’t know what it is about that these chicken burgers but we literally can’t get enough of them.

I followed dinner up with Grapefruit, again, last night.  It was SOOOO good.  I am seriously loving these grapefruits… unfortunately, I don’t think there are too many left.

After dinner, I settled down on the couch to watch tv.  I am not sure what it is but sometimes I think sitting on the couch makes me more hungry.  Perhaps it is habit… so I ended up grabbing a bit more bread and cheese for my final snack of the evening.

This morning I decided to do intervals from the New Leaf training program again but I was determined to switch it up a bit so today’s intervals were 2 minutes in Zone 1 and 2 minutes in Zone 2. While this workout definitely pushed me… especially to get my heart rate above 160 I found it easier in some ways to control because I was in the higher zone for a slightly longer period of time.

As you can see from my chart, there were definitely a few instances where I didn’t make it to 160+ … especially as it got later in the workout. This was mostly an issue when I let my heart rate drop too quickly in Zone 1.  I followed the cardio up with 30 minutes of strength training.  All in all a good workout and I felt like I pushed hard.

Question of the day: Do you find that routines help you?
