Happy Friday & A Few Random Thoughts

Well, I made it to bed a full hour earlier last night.  Wow… did I sleep hard and I felt much better when I woke up this morning!  I think I could have used more sleep though because my workout didn’t go as well as it really should have been.  Oh well… some days that is just ‘gonna’ happen.

Anyway, let me back up a bit to last night.  I decided that last night I was going to get a head start on our laundry so that we’d have plenty of clothes for our trip.  I had figured that I’d start with the colors that get washed in warm water.  Hmmm… that didn’t happen.  We had only 1 item that fell into that category.  It got me thinking – I feel like almost all of our clothes are becoming “cold water” wash.  Are you noticing the same thing?  Even t-shirts now seem to be cold water wash.

After getting all of the clothes sorted and discovering that I really couldn’t get a head start, I decided to move on to dinner. I think that I had originally figured that I would make veggie burgers last night but they really just didn’t appeal to me so I got a couple of Tilapia filets out of the freezer and we went with those.  I am really loving Tilapia these days.  I heated up some frozen veggies in the microwave and also made some noodles.  The noodles aren’t pictured, they didn’t fit on the plate! I guess I made a few too many veggies.

After dinner, we finished up our “hotel project” and booked a room for part of the week so we are now officially all set and will have a place to stay.  I snacked on popcorn and oranges again while we did that.  Can I tell you that I am simply loving popcorn these days?  It is the perfect after dinner snack … I really like to snack in the evenings and popcorn is really satisfying my cravings.  Yay!

I had intended to do intervals during today’s workout but I just couldn’t seem to muster the energy. So, I just went in more of a steady state … well really a declining state … mode for today’s workout.

Workout Results March 16th

After my workout, I proceeded to rush around and get ready for work.  I was SERIOUSLY close to missing my train this morning.  I am not sure what happened but I was still upstairs drying my hair when I should have been walking down the driveway. Luckily I got my act together and to the station in time.  I am not sure what it was, though, there was NO ONE on the trains.  They were pretty darn empty today.  Is there a holiday that I am missing?

Recovery Workout

 

Today’s workout was a steady state “recovery” workout.  I am not sure if I was tired or what but my heart rate was very spikey.. up / down / up / down.  I wasn’t really paying attention this am when I put the heart rate monitor on and I am now wondering if maybe I didn’t have it in quite the right spot.  Oh well… the workout felt good while I was doing it and I felt even better once I was finished!

 

March 6th Workout Results

Following my morning workout, I quickly got myself ready and down to the train station for my commute.  Wow was I shocked when I stepped out the door.  I really don’t feel like I can complain about cold weather given the winter we’ve had this year but I was definitely a bit surprised this morning.  I think I am just ready for it to be spring … this in between weather is getting old and now cold!

When I got to the train, everything was just like any other morning… but I quickly realized that there were train issues and we’d be going to Hoboken instead of Penn Station. Bleh.  I ended up getting to work only about 15 minutes late so it wasn’t that big of a deal but I definitely feel like I got off to a rough start.  I really dislike fighting the crowds for a seat on the PATH train when everything gets rerouted to Hoboken.  I am not sure what it is about commuters… they sure can be a rough bunch!
