Revisiting a Healthy Step: Nighttime Snacking

One Healthy Step At A Time

Okay, so I definitely fell off the bandwagon with nighttime snacking over the weekend.  While I did make progress and was not snacking as much as I normally do on weekends I still wasn’t where I really wanted to be.  Why are weekends so challenging?  There is something about the unstructured time that I just find very difficult.

This week I am back on the bandwagon and I am committing to not eating after 8:30 pm.  What’s your healthy step?

Slow Start to the Week

With Monday as a holiday and no work for me, I definitely got off to a slow start this week.  So, let me catch you up… it was a three day weekend which was definitely needed  by me.  On Saturday, after my early morning workout, we decided to go skating with my brother and his fiancee at the Bear Mountain Ice Rink.  Bear Mountain Ice Rink is an outdoor ice rink with great views of mountains and a lake.  Despite us all being very apprehensive about the weather being too cold we had a really great time and none of us was cold.  From there it was on to the Woodbury Common Outlets in Harriman.

Sunday was our grocery shopping and football day.  And, Monday ended up being a Prison Break day… I can’t even tell you how many episodes of Prison Break we watched on Netflix with a quick break so that I could run to Target and get a new pair of exercise pants.  Since we had the extra time we decided to put some chicken on the grill so that we’ d have a few premade meals this week!  Which brings me to our meals for the week… I’ve had them all planned out in my head but just hadn’t had a chance to post them.

Monday: Grilled Chicken, Black Rice, Veggies, and Fruit.

Tuesday: Grilled Chicken, Baked Potato, Veggies, and Kiwi.

Wednesday: Grilled Chicken, Black Rice, Veggies, and Kiwi.

Thursday: Amy’s Burritos, Brown Rice, Veggies, and Kiwi.

Friday: Eggs, Toast, Veggies, and Kiwi.

I’ve actually been doing a really good job this week with healthy snacks: Hard Boiled Eggs, Cheese (prepackaged servings), Kiwi Fruit, and English Muffins (whole wheat / lite).  It is always amazing to me how much better I feel when I eat right … mentally and physically.
